How to Be a Good Trainer

DIRECT SELLING NOW (2)

Last month, we focused on recruiting, so it's only natural that we move on to April's topic, how to get a new start off to a great start.

Whether you work with a network marketing model, a party plan model or a hybrid, it's your job as a sponsor to help each new recruit launch their business successfully. And the number 1 thing you should do is plan a launch party. I will be talking more about this next week.

But before we get into launch parties and walking our new team members through our fast start programs. it's important to first understand how to be a good trainer.

I think this is the scariest part for most people. It's one of the biggest things that hold people back from recruiting: the fear of training. Many people avoid leadership within their company because of this fear.

Being a trainer to a new rep is not difficult. Some people have natural abilities in this area, but it can be taught, and you can learn how to become a good trainer. The good news is, with all the technology and multiple resources available to you, you don't have to figure out what to train – you just have to execute a good system.

You may decide to pull the most important pieces of information and feed it to your new recruits in bite sized chunks; Or you may e-mail them a cheatsheet, so to speak, telling them where the find the necessary information in your virtual office. No matter how you decide to share the information, the what is already done for you – the work has been done by your company, from top leaders and direct sales trainers, like myself.

Here are the five main areas that you need to train your team members on right away:

  • How to get bookings (online or in home)
  • How to bring in their first recruit (see last month's training for more info)
  • How to host coach
  • How to place an order
  • How to order additional business supplies

Again, this training has already been done for you – it's just up to you to share that information with your team. But not all of your new recruits will be the same, and the way that you train them and the systems you use may differ from person to person. So be sure to find out the best ways to communicate with each of your team members.

You can communicate using:

  • Texting
  • E-mail
  • Facebook Groups
  • Facebook Live
  • Phone Calls
  • Video Conferencing, like Zoom
  • Snail Mail
  • Face-to-Face Meetings
  • And so on…
