3 Ways to Make Your 4th Quarter a Strong One

Attention all sellers!!!

Whether you are an entrepreneur, solopreneur, small business owner, in direct selling or have a product of any kind, this is the time you want to be at your best; your best for your customers and your best for you!

With the holidays fast approaching, consumers are actively looking for gifts, special deals, and products to successfully propel them into a new year. With the end of the year approaching, you have the opportunity to finish your business year off strong.

I know it’s been an “interesting” year in so many ways, but creating momentum for your business to finish 2021 strong is a choice you have.

Here are three ways to make the most of this 4th quarter.

Create a Schedule

Our schedules and routines can tend to get a little loose over the summer. Fall is a natural time to get back into a routine. If you have kids, things like bedtimes, doing homework, and getting ready for school in the morning are a part of the mix again. For everyone, as the daylight gets shorter, our natural rhythms adapt to a different cycle that promotes winding the days down earlier. These things help to naturally get us back into a routine that serves us.

But here’s a secret about how to have a wildly successful schedule.

One of the most impactful things you can do when creating a schedule is to map out not only what you have coming up, but what you WANT to have coming up. Put things like, “Have a $200 day” or “Close a deal” right in your calendar! Pick a day and make it happen! By doing that, you put yourself in the driver's seat and may be amazed at how you can ‘tell the future’ just by getting clear on and motivated to take that action.

Put Systems in Place

What systems do you have in place to help keep you motivated or to make things seamless? What things have you made easy for yourself? How prepared are you when you go do your work so that everything is at your fingertips?

When I know I am going live, I make sure my stuff is all right on my desk so I don’t just tell my audience about something, I can say, “Here, let me show you,” and walk them through it. What do you need with you to make your job or life easier? Your call list? Your email list? Your social media posting content calendar? A product you might be talking about on a Zoom call with a potential client?

A little prep goes a long way to make your life easier and keep your stress level down. These things are part of your system. Get yourself set up effectively so that you can bring all your energy to the actual conversation in the moment.

Be Intentional About Your Business

If you choose to sit back and “hope” things happen, you’re not going to get the results you want. But there are things you can do to have a good (or great!) 4th quarter. Don’t just “hope” it goes well, make it go well!

One of the ways to do that is to reach out to past clients. It’s simply good customer care that can also create sales you otherwise would have missed (check out my article Why You Want To Be a 'Follow Up' Rock Star (and How To Do It!) for more on that). Give them a quick call to say, “I just wanted to touch base and see how things are going.” Ask them, “Is there anything I can do for you?” tell them, “If there is anyone who is looking for help, feel free to pass my name on to them.”

Another way to be intentional about your business is to reach out to 5-10 clients a day. Do that for a few days, take a couple days off, and then get back at it. Do this throughout the entire 4th quarter. Personal conversations over the phone are where your enthusiasm can shine through! You can share your vocal energy and passion so much more on the phone than in an email. Your enthusiasm and energy is contagious, so make sure it’s part of your communication with clients.

For me, this is a key selling time for my planner. I had fun this summer, but now need to buckle down for the 4th quarter. Is this the time to sell your service? Then you need to get a move on! If it’s important to you, go the extra mile to make it happen. When you get in the driver’s seat, the less you are able to sit back and “hope” things turn out alright. Get excited first! Don’t wait for business to come to you, go get it!
