In a recent article, The Not Normal, I shared the story of a difficult decision I had to make about funding my business early on in the pandemic. My 25 years of hard work and building success were suddenly no obstacle compared to the obstacle that laid ahead.
I knew where I had been, but I wasn’t sure where I was going.
The decision paralyzed me for days, but I knew I had to take a risk. I had to shift and invest my time, my money, and ideas into my business in ways that looked different than they ever had before.
As gut-wrenching as that decision was at the time, it was just the start of what I had to do to get a positive outcome.
Just making a decision doesn’t bring results. The only thing that brings results is you going all in.
After a few sleepless nights and a large withdrawal from our retirement fund, I did everything I could to ensure that success. I upped my game in everything:
- I started going live more often on my business page
- I started a private group, which created more engagement, even though it took a lot more time
- I started creating more content, even though it was costly
- I decided to do a new weekly live training on my business page
- I started reaching out to key leaders and doing free trainings in THEIR groups, and did as many as three a night for a solid two months
- I started doing free weekly giveaways. That’s a lot, but more people showed up to see if they won and I got a chance to talk to them about my planner - and many of them bought!
If I did some of something before, I did more of it now.
The result? An awesome 2021 planner!
At first, I agonized overdoing these things because of the time and money I knew it would take, especially in a time where money was so tight and so many things were uncertain at the time. But the decision to pull the trigger was not what made it a success; me and my team getting to work and not stopping is what made it happen.
Just making a decision doesn’t bring results. The only thing that brings results is you going all in.
