Enthusiasm is the Difference

Successful people do things differently than other people.

While there are several things that go into success, something that can get missed is one of the most important determinants to success, but because it doesn't have to do with goals, time management, and networking, it sometimes gets lost in the mix.

Successful people are enthusiastic. They are excited and passionate about what they do and what they have to offer, and they are not afraid to share it with others.

When you are truly excited, it drives you and people are pulled toward you. They gravitate to you. Have you ever been to a trade show with booths or tables? As you look around the room, where are all the people? They are where all the other people are!

They are at the table where the person is excitedly talking and demonstrating things with energy. If he was standing there and simply vacuumed mud off a rug, nobody would care! But he gets SO excited about his product and how you can throw mud on a nice piece of carpet and not have to fret because his vacuum can take care of it!

People will mirror what you put out. So, if you are excited and enthusiastic, people will be excited, too. If you are confident when you are speaking, people will have confidence in you and they will listen, ask questions, and maybe do business with you.

If you are unsure, people will be unsure with you. If you are boring or lackadaisical, people will be lackadaisical with you.

If you called a client and said, “Hey! I know how much you love this and we just got it in! It’s probably going to go fast and I would hate it if you missed out on it,” they will be excited with you and say, “Thanks, tell me about it.” But if you just reach out to them and say, “I’m going to send you our new products, I think there are some you might be interested in. Let me know if you see anything you need,” they are going to say, “OK, I’ll take a look and let you know.”

That’s the difference.

If you say, “I know that you are going to love this because it’s going to do ‘A’ for you and I know you’ve experienced ‘B’ and have a challenge with ’C’, this is going to solve that problem for you,” there is a confidence to that. If you say, “If you have experienced ‘A,’ this product can maybe help someone going through that,'' it's like you’re not even speaking to them; you’re speaking around them. You’re not speaking with confidence, using words like ‘maybe’ and ‘if.’ When your words are not confident, people are going to say, “Thanks, I’ll pass for right now.”

Something successful people have in common is enthusiasm, excitement, and passion for what they do, for what they’re offering, for what they sell and for what they’re promoting. And remember, this isn’t just for your tangible products that have a price tag attached to them; sometimes you are selling an idea, a mission, a cause or a community. That is you selling! Enthusiasm, passion, and confidence are key to getting what you want. Never forget people will mirror what you put out, put out there what you want to receive back.
