Belinda’s Bookshelf – Seven at Sea

Seven at Sea by Erik and Emily Orton

Seven at Sea is a heartwarming story about a couple that, after having a failed business venture, decided to go off the grid and spend a year sailing the world with their family. The story is told by The Orton's as they embark on the journey of a lifetime with their five children.

Before embarking, the family spent three years learning how to sail before purchasing a sailboat as a lifelong dream of Erik's. Emily courageously supports him in this once in a lifetime opportunity, and they set sail into unknown territory.

The tale touches on all that comes with taking risks and being rewarded for them. It's about trials and tribulations, adventure wins, and getting back to what's important.

Family.

Not only that, but it shows us that sometimes the unexpected can be of more benefit than you know. Not only was this a trip that brought their family closer together, but their fifth child has special needs and actually thrived and grew more through this trip than through any therapy session she'd ever had.

Seven at Sea was recently listed as a New York Times “Best Family Read of the Summer” and you can find more information about them through my podcast, Work From Your Happy Place ep. 177

For anyone that's ever dreamed of doing something big, following your dreams, or marking items off your bucket list, I hope this adventure tale gives you the courage to step out and take a chance on something magnificent.
