The (Grateful) Pen is Mightier Than the Sword

You’ve heard it before.

I know you have.

You’ve heard about the benefits to keeping a gratitude journal.

But it’s worth hearing again! Believe me!

If you already do this, you know the power behind it. If you haven’t started doing it yet, right now is a great time to start.

Whether it’s about the positive impact on your mental and physical wellbeing, the way it shifts your mindset to one of abundance instead of one of scarcity, or the fact that people who consistently use a gratitude journal have a 40% better chance of reaching their goals, consistently writing down what you are grateful for is a powerful tool that promotes a healthy and positive attitude you can walk out into the world with every day.

I know there are gratitude journals of all kinds you can purchase (you can get my Mindset of Gratitude journal HERE!), but you can even start with a blank piece of paper. Keep it simple at the start. If you're not sure where to start, here are some prompts for you to write about:

  • What things make you smile?
  • What space in your home do you love most?
  • What class have you always wanted to take (and why)?
  • What is your favorite way to relax and rejuvenate yourself?
  • What do you wish you could change about your career?
  • Look around...what are five things you see that you never noticed before?

These are a few of the prompts out of my Mindset of Gratitude journal, but you can write about anything you want! Give it a try. Once you see how great it makes you feel, you might get hooked.

To all my friends, as we enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday this week in the US, know that I am thinking about you. I want you to know how grateful I am for each and every one of you. I appreciate you all. After all, “Friends are the family you choose.” (Jess E. Scott)
